Our Impact in South Africa
At On Purpose International, our mission is to help people on purpose by empowering communities and uplifting families through purpose-driven action. In October 2024, we embarked on a life-changing journey to Johannesburg, South Africa, with a goal of making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Through collaboration with Haven Place Doulas (HPD), donors, and volunteers in the USA, we distributed 296 pregnancy bags to underserved families in Johannesburg, South Africa. The mini pregnancy bags, filled with essential items like diapers, wipes, lotions, and more, helped ease the challenges faced by prenatal and postpartum families.
But we didn’t stop there.
We went beyond the basics, reaching out to a local orphanage and local hospitals, offering support, and ensuring that every family we met had the resources they needed. With the help of HPD and some dedicated volunteers, we were able to touch even more lives, providing suitcases, toys, and essential supplies to those in need.
The Need is Great - And We Can Do More Together
While our outreach efforts in Johannesburg were impactful, we quickly realized that the need for support was even greater than anticipated. Many families expressed gratitude for the resources we provided, but there is still much more to be done. From food insecurity to limited access to education and healthcare, the challenges faced by these communities are ongoing.
That’s why we’re committed to continuing our efforts in South Africa and beyond, expanding our reach, and providing more families with the tools and support they need to thrive.
